When the entire surface of a dial is a world map — blue enamel oceans, relief-engraved continents, multiple sub-dials reading different time zones — retouching becomes cartographic work as much as post-production. The depth of the blue had to remain consistent across the full dial without flattening the engraved geographical details beneath it. The interplay of light across the multiple sub-dials required individual attention to each zone — ensuring that the overall image reads as a unified composition rather than a collection of competing surfaces. The final images preserve the ambition of the dial design: a timepiece that holds the world.
